EIA: Ethanol Blending in Gasoline Increasing Again

The Energy Information Administration in its Weekly Petroleum Status Report says the production of gasoline with ethanol in the week ended June 5 was 428,000 barrels per day above the previous week, leaving production at 455,000 barrels per day below the record high set in the week ended April 3. That meant the production of gasoline blended with ethanol is now back on track with the trend seen over the last five years.

Production of reformulated gasoline with ethanol declined 38,000 barrels per day from the previous week and was 298,000 barrels per day below the record rate established in the week ended October 10. Blending of ethanol with conventional gasoline jumped 466,000 barrels per day. Last week’s rate was 348,000 barrels per day below the record established the week ended April 3.

The amount of finished gasoline supplied to the market last week was up 121,000 barrels per day from the previous week’s rate. The quantity of gasoline blended with ethanol as a percent of the total amount of gasoline supplied to the US market spiked 3.8% higher to 74%, the highest level since the week ending May 1.
